Commercial Walk-Behind Mower

When it comes to the controls on our new walk-behind mowers, your hands were what we thought of first. That’s what led us to design a control layout that your hands are really going to enjoy.

It’s in your hands.

From the start, the goal was simple: ergonomic controls. And so we made sure the proximity of one control to another was just right. Also hand position for minimum fatigue was another consideration. All for ease of use and smooth operation

Goodbye gear, hello hydrostatic

Both the M & R Series feature hydrostatic drive systems that provide positive reverse for more power and smoother operation. The infinite ground speed adjustments on both units enables a smoother transition from one speed to another.

Go ahead and jump.

And for sheer curb climbing ability, you just can’t beat our R Series walk-behinds. With 8 and a half inches of ground clearance and positive reverse performance, the four R Series units bring even the most daunting curbs to their knees.

Features may include:

  • 48-inch (122-cm) floating mower deck
  • Smooth-running, 14.5 hp (10.8 kW) V-twin engine
  • Self-propelled hydrostatic drive system
  • Easy-to-use controls for operator comfort and convenience
Ergonomic Controls
  • For our M & R Series commercial walk-behinds, your hands were what we considered first when designing the controls on these machines. Hand position was important for minimum fatigue. Levers that didn't need constant force to operate. And to slow down or turn, all you need to do is gently squeeze the handles.
Hydrostatic Transmission
  • Both the M & R Series feature hydrostatic drive systems that provide positive reverse for more power and smoother operation. The infinite ground speed adjustments on both units enables a smoother transition from one speed to another.
Compact design with a strong, welded frame for superior durability
  • From the operator's station to the mower deck, John Deere walk-behind mowers have a compact and functional design:
  • Caster wheels are set in as close to the mower as possible.
  • Shortest overall machine length to maximize maneuverability and minimize space needed on a trailer
  • The compact design of John Deere commercial walk-behind mowers allows access to operate in tight areas where larger ride-on machines cannot fit. Often, this means the area can be mowed with a walk-behind mower so it is not necessary to switch to another mower, which helps reduce the time on site.
  • With the compact design of John Deere commercial walk-behind mowers, less space is required on a truck or trailer, possibly freeing up space for an extra mower, resulting in less time on property, saving both time and money.
